Build for Race/Rallye, Track Day or Street! This is a Hi-Performance Rare "Factory Lightweight Homologation Special" 450SLC 5.0 Project car. This car must be considered a restoration/project car due to rust repair required to the body. I have had this car up to 125 MPH on several occasions (as is) and it felt amazing. Top speed is rated at 140 MPH. Many thousands spent on Mechanical restoration. Very strong Engine and Mechanicals. Seller can forward an (additional description) Word Document and digital photo folders. Must sacrifice! Unique and Rare! Seats and Interior pieces (not shown in photos) are in very good condition. Nice headliner. Many new parts are installed or included. Originally Silver with Tan interior. Currently Black with Tan interior. I will help purchaser by working with your shipper to see that the car and parts are properly prepared for transit, overseas if applicable. History This is not the regular standard USA spec 450SLC. This is a European spec model not originally sold in the USA. The 450SLC 5.0 model was a factory Homologation Special to enable Mercedes-Benz to compete on the International Rally circuit. Less than 3000 were built between 1977 and 1980. This car is number 1091 out of 2,756 built. This model introduced the all-aluminum 5.0L engine (vs. the cast-iron 4.5L engine). In addition, the Hood, Decklid and Rear Suspension Arms are Aluminum. This model was Mercedes most expensive regular production model at the time (and was not sold in the USA). Racing versions of this car were the basis of Mercedes Factory Rallying efforts in 1978 and 1979. Competition history of this model included an outright win in the grueling 18,000-mile Sudamerika Southern Cross Rallye late in 1978 and high placements at the Paris-Dakar, Rallye Akopolis, and other World Rally Championship events. This particular vehicle has no known previous racing history.
